SizeUp 1.1 Released

This version of SizeUp represents a complete rewrite of the core window mover/resizer code, improving responsiveness and compatibility with more applications/window types. There are also a lot of new, highly requested features and improvements:

  • New: Center Window Action and optionally resize to a user-defined size
  • New: SnapBack Action to restore a window to its previous position and size before SizeUp actions were performed
  • New: Multiple Monitor Actions to move a window from one monitor to another
  • New: User configurable Margins to reserve space at the edge of your screen
  • Improved: Reworked Preferences Panel with more options to better control SizeUp appearance and behavior
  • Improved: Support for more applications: Entourage 2008, Fluid instances, Stickies (move only), Dockless applications (e.g. ShoveBox, etc), and more
  • Improved: Support for more window types: dialogs and some non-standard windows, etc
  • Fixed: Eliminated "Timeout ..." errors

This update also carries with it a change in SizeUp pricing. I have raised the minimum from $1.28 to a more realistic $2.99 based on the data I gathered from my first week of sales. Additionally, the suggested price has been raised from $7.99 to $9.99 as SizeUp is starting to feel more substantial and feature rich.

Introducing Irradiated Labs and FinderMinder

I have been doing a lot of research into window management lately, which has produced a good number of experimental applications, some of which are interesting enough to be shared. Enter Irradiated Labs, a place where I can post some of the more polished and interesting experiments for all to see.

The first experiment I have on display is FinderMinder, a small utility that allows you to specify where (position) and what size you want newly opened Finder windows to appear. The default Finder behavior is to remember the last position and size for every window, but this can be frustrating if you already know where you want every window to appear (for example, I like all windows to be centered at 800x600).

Server Upgrade

Just a "heads up", the Irradiated Software website is moving to a beefier server, so there might be some downtime today or tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too disruptive.
